This is a red mild-solvent ink specifically tuned for Epson printers. Its hue has been carefully engineered with a slightly cool magenta-based tone, allowing it to produce brighter, more vivid reds without appearing dull when mixed with other colors (such as overprinting with yellow). The ink offers high saturation and enhanced UV resistance, helping red elements remain striking and long-lasting in outdoor applications.
It maintains consistent hue stability across different production batches and is optimized for harmonious overprinting with other ink colors. However, when printing large solid areas of red on highly absorbent media, it is recommended to allow a slightly longer drying time. In practical use, jobs with a high proportion of red elements may consume ink more quickly, so maintaining adequate ink inventory is advised.
Materials such as PVC vehicle wrap vinyl, reflective film, and mild-solvent lightbox fabric are the mainstays of outdoor advertising and vehicle graphics. Their surface coatings have excellent affinity with mild-solvent inks, allowing the ink to penetrate and cure quickly. The resulting black prints appear dense, deep, and solid, and can remain clear even after one to two years of exposure to sun and rain outdoors. Coated self-adhesive PP or synthetic paper is also a reliable option, well suited for display boards and posters, offering fast drying and accurate color reproduction.
For materials such as PET transparent films, rigid plastic boards, or special substrates like leather and coated metal panels, the situation is more complex. Whether the ink can adhere properly and remain durable depends entirely on the surface coating process of the material. A reliable approach is to always conduct a sample test using scrap material before mass production. After printing, allow the sample to dry for 24 hours, then firmly scratch the printed area with a fingernail to check whether the image peels off. This is the most direct and effective way to evaluate ink adhesion.
To help you make the most of this red ink, we have summarized the most frequently encountered questions related to color mixing and real-world applications.
A1:This ink is a red based on magenta (M) but with higher saturation. Visually, it appears redder, richer, and slightly cooler than the standard magenta used in conventional CMYK printing. If you replace the magenta (M) channel in your printer with this ink, solid red areas will look brighter and more accurate. Simply put, standard magenta tends to resemble a “pinkish” tone, while this red is closer to a “true flag red.”
A2:Using this ink alone makes it difficult to precisely match a specific PANTONE® color. The professional approach is to replace the printer’s magenta (M) channel with this ink and then fine-tune the CMYK mixing ratios to approach the target color. We strongly recommend conducting print tests in advance. You may contact our technical support team to request test files based on international standard color charts. Printing these files on your equipment and commonly used media, then comparing them with color references, is the most direct way to understand the achievable color gamut.
A3:This is usually related to the ink absorption uniformity of the media and the printer’s pass settings. Red pigments are highly concentrated and more sensitive to subtle differences in media coatings. If this occurs, try the following:
Increase print quality: Change the print mode from “Production” to “Quality” in the printer driver to increase the number of passes.
Check the media: Ensure you are using mild-solvent–compatible media with a uniform coating.
Unidirectional printing: For large-format prints, enabling unidirectional printing can improve uniformity, although it reduces speed.
A4:Yes. Under UV exposure, the molecular structure of red dyes is generally less stable, and traditional inks tend to fade toward pink or orange first. To address this, our formulation includes additional UV absorbers and stabilizers specifically targeting the red spectrum, helping to slow down this process. However, no dye is completely fade-proof. In environments with intense sunlight exposure, it is still reasonable to inspect outdoor graphics—especially red areas—every 1–2 years as part of normal maintenance.
A5:Thanks to its accurate red hue, this ink produces clean results when overprinted with cyan (to create purple) or yellow (to create orange). A practical tip is to slightly reduce the percentage of cyan in overprinted areas when preparing your artwork in the RIP or design software. This helps achieve a clearer, brighter purple and avoids a “muddy” or grayish appearance caused by excessive red–blue overlap. Exact values should be fine-tuned through testing based on your specific design.
A6:This is not just an impression. In many commercial advertising and promotional designs, red is often used as a dominant or attention-grabbing color (such as in promotional banners and warning signs), resulting in higher actual consumption compared to cyan or yellow. We recommend calculating ink usage in advance and preparing sufficient stock when handling large orders dominated by red tones, to avoid interruptions during production.
